Snelling Avenue

Ramsey County, MN
Project Overview

This $9.5 million project included resurfacing the existing pavement on Snelling Avenue in Saint Paul, replacing a bridge deck, improving drainage, and constructing METRO A Line bus rapid transit (BRT) platforms.

Our Work

Isthmus provided design and plan production support from Dayton Avenue to Pierce Butler Route. Our team members co-located at MnDOT as a major contributor to the ADA-compliant design of 15 intersections, 1.5 miles of sidewalk, and numerous driveways and building entrances. The project team developed complex and innovative solutions for staying within the limited existing right-of-way along the corridor.

Our additional tasks included developing utility and drainage tabulations, computing quantities, supporting cross section development, and incorporating design changes into the updated plan set. Due to existing flat grades, numerous drainage modifications were required as part of this project. The retrofitting of many building entrances involved careful and thoughtful design.
