Southwest Light Rail Transit Design
The Southwest Light Rail Transit Line is an approximately 15-mile line that will serve the Twin Cities metropolitan region operating from downtown Minneapolis through the Southwestern suburban cities of St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Eden Prairie. The SWLRT line will be part of an integrated system of transitways converging at the Minneapolis Transportation Interchange where connections using the Target Field Station can be made to the Hiawatha and Central LRT lines, and future commuter rail and intercity passenger rail lines.
Isthmus played a key role in the development of the Trail and Roadway Plans, and led the development of MnDOT Geometric Layouts. Isthmus staff also developed conceptual freight reroute options, provided hydraulic analysis, provided CADD Support for various plan components, and supported the Quality Management efforts.
Our team added value through leading Civil 3D workshops with project members, performing project-wide CAD updates to address network issues, programming custom LISP routines for project use, and the creation of the majority of the custom subassemblies used on the project for 3D modeling and visualizations.
During the preliminary engineering phase of this project, Isthmus took on a number of critical design elements to support the project design team.
